DISCLAIMER

Homeless To Independence Inc. is a 501©3 non-profit organization. We are self supporting and we do NOT receive any government grant funding what-so-ever to pay bills for anyone in any situation. We do not give away money. We do not give out loans against any money.

This ministry is supported with generous financial donations that are used to help keep us functioning. Our purpose is to help supply individuals and families with personal needs such as food, toiletries, clothing, household items and baby/adult diapers/wipes both locally and to areas affected by disasters . At this time, we do not offer any shelter or transitional housing services. Again, we DO NOT pay any bills. We DO NOT pay any rents or mortgages.

If you are actually homeless, or about to be homeless or need emergency assistance of any kind, DIAL “211” from a land-line telephone. This will not work from a cell telephone. Tell the receiver your situation and what you need. They will give you information specific for the location you are currently in plus any referrals you may need. They have the most up to the minute information for your specific area. Dialing “211” will get you help and much more info than this office can provide. Homeless to Independence wants you to have all the information you need to get through the situation you are in.

Don’t have a land-line telephone??? Go to your local police department, library, or house of worship and ask to use their land-line telephone. They may even make the call on your behalf.

07-08-26 A bit of this week’s outreach

Monday, July 6th, we dropped off boxes of baked goods from the Garden Spot Bakery in the Quakertown Farmers and donated powdered milk and pb tubes to the Quakertown Food Pantry, in Quakertown PA;

Yesterday Tuesday June 7th we made an excellent connection w Dorranceton UMC in the Kingston PA area. There, we dropped off summer clothing, adult diapers and first aid necessities to their clothing closet and made arrangements for continuance of drops including winter weather items starting in Sept 2026.  They partner w another group that works w their local tent cities and we look forward to assisting them also w camping gear and supplies.

I WANT TO REITERATE – when you drop off your clothing donations here – your clothing will go out to those in need for free! it will NOT be sold here!  We have donors that specifically donate for us to sell and raise funds – AND WE HAVE PLENTY!

We are now accepting summer clothing for all ages and sizes – this clothing will be given away for FREE by clothing closets and smaller orgs that assist with these needs. Please feel free to drop off at our shop below.

Please remember, that if you are in the Greater Quakertown, PA area and just have a small amount of non-perishable goods, all types of cleaning products, adult incontinence items, wheelchairs/walkers/canes, you are welcome to drop off at our:

“One of a Kind Shop” #258 next to exit #11 in the

Quakertown Farmers Market
201 Station Rd.
Quakertown, PA 18951

and your items will be dropped off during our outreach the following week!

Donation acceptance hours are:

21st  Annual Multi-State Winter Outerwear Drive – 2026

Homeless To Independence Inc. starts it’s “21st Annual Multi-State Winter Outerwear Drive on

Thurday, October 1st, 2026, to help those in need, such as single mothers and fathers and the elderly who are having a hard time making ends meet.

This project is specifically for the States and Commonwealths of Eastern Pennsylvania, Southern New York, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland.  Just about all items collected will be distributed within the County they are collected within through various street ministries, soup kitchens and additional agencies.  Last year for our 20th Annual Multi-State Winter Outerwear Drive” we collected and distributed over 40,000 items including emergency sleeping bags.  Everything we collect is always given away for free – we do not sell one single item designated for this collection.

These are the sizes that will be needed for our 2026/2027 Winter Season:

  • MENS – ALL SIZES INCLUDING XL, XXL, XXXL AND 4XL
  • WOMENS – ALL SIZES INCLUDING XL, XXL, XXXL
  • INFANTS AND CHILDRENS ALL SIZES

Pickups will be done on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays in most cases.  Additional dates and times will be based on our volunteer’s personal schedule.
  2. Set up a drop box at your business for your employees and customers/clients to drop off needed items.  Again, we will be happy to provide a T-24 tax receipt for their tax records.

07-08-26 SEEDS OF HOPE GARDENING PROJECT AND VOLUNTEERS NEEDED UPDATE!

I am pleased to share an update on the Seeds of Hope project. Our tomatoes are progressing well and we anticipate delivering the first harvest to the Quakertown Food Pantry during the week of July 12, 2026. The tomatoes were not quite ready for this week.

Green Beans and Horseradish are also growing!

Always excepting your gardens overproduction of produce to go with everyone else’s!

BRING TO THE SHOP OR EMAIL Ann@homelesstoindependence.org

Homeless To Independence Inc. celebrated its 20th anniversary this past March.

We continue to operate as a fully volunteer-run organization without grant funding.

To sustain our daily outreach and operations, we are currently seeking volunteers for the following roles:

1. Office Support: Gathering information regarding upcoming job fairs, housing lists, and first-time homebuyer programs, veterans events and more.
2. Veterans Representative: Assisting local veterans at our Quakertown location on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. With plans to start a food pantry and clothing closet for our local veterans. Collaborate with other local Veterans agencies and organizations to help provide additional needed community assistance – making our community stronger.
3. Fundraising: Providing assistance with strategic planning and event coordination.
4. Board Members – To help steer this ship and keep it on course.

If you are interested in supporting our mission, please let us know. We would appreciate any time you can dedicate to these efforts.

Thank you for supporting Homeless To Independence Inc and the people we serve!
Best regards,
Ann Martin-Frey

06-06-26 GETTING BIGGER EVERY DAY – AND THE NIGHT OF THE DEER!

Our friendly deer got us – as you can see they got my flowering bush and my sunflowers –

as you can see our tomatoes, green beans, horseradish, carrots and more are growing great!

Later this week, I will be transplanting into separate potters, weeding and giving some of the veggies and fruits a “special concoction” that is good for their growth!

If you are growing and are going to pass out to your neighbors, family, coworkers and still have an over abundance of fruits and veggies – please consider calling me at 1-609-577-3555 to pick up to take to the local food pantry and soup kitchens.

Farmers and roadside stands are also welcome to call for pickup – and your produce will go in the same direction!

LET’S MAKE THIS WORK FOR THE COMMUNITIES!!

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING HOMELESS TO INDEPENDENCE INC AND THE PEOPLE WE SERVE!

For you wonderful people requesting donation information:

06-26-26 Donating to Homeless To Independence Inc. Guidelines

Thank you for donating your goods to Homeless To Independence Inc. Following is
the how to and the what…

We accept anything as long as it is legal.

a) We do not accept any clothing that has holes, is dirty, with holes in the pockets, no rips or tears.

b) Glassware, pottery, ceramics cannot have breaks, chips, cracks – so much of the older pieces were made with lead and the breaks can harm those handling the pieces.

c) We gladly accept old trains, comics, old games and electronics, old records, camping equipment (for our tent cities outreach in 3-States), etc.

d) Furniture by appointment please – we are currently limited on space and we prefer to have a receiving family ready for your wonderful pieces, as our donated furniture pieces go in that direction.

e) If you have nonperishable and canned foods, that are non expired and don’t have the time to drop off at the food pantry, you are welcome to bring them to our location, during normal Qmart hours and we will get it all dropped during the next week on a weekly basis!

Millions of Americans aren’t playing their cards right.

In fact, we’ve left more than $44 billion on the table, in the form of unused gift cards, and an additional $2 billion every year.
“People are letting cash slip away that they could be using FOR THE GREATER GOOD!

40% of gift card recipients do not use the total value of the card.
American households have an average of $300 in unused gift cards.

Please support Homeless To Independence Inc. with the change you have left on those gift cards…

MARCH 2026 HOMELESS TO INDEPENDENCE INC.’S PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Homeless To Independence Inc. is an extremely active, 20-year-old, all-volunteer, non-profit.  We work with the homeless, the working poor, our veterans and their families, and anyone in need due to natural or manmade disasters nationwide and our territories.

With the homeless, we:

  • work daily as a need arises assisting them with information to get them into shelters, food, identification, – pointing them in the right direction.
  • Pass out donated coats, hats, gloves, scarves, warm clothing especially during the cold weather months;
  • Tent cities: we assist with donated tents, camping supplies for cooking, hygiene items, laundry items, blankets, pillows, socks, clothing, sleeping bags, manual can openers, trash bags to gather their trash, zip lock bags (for their important papers) and non-perishable canned foods. We especially pay attention to times when there is excessive rain and help to provide fresh blankets and such, because their items do get wet.

With the working poor, veterans, and their families, we:

  • establish relationships with various realtors and private landlords, working with both sides of the fence attempting to successfully bring about a meeting of the minds, with a fair rental package for both the renter and prospective landlord;
  • Pass on food and food packages as donated, sometimes perishable during the holidays;
  • Pass out donated coats, hats, gloves, scarves, warm clothing especially during the cold weather months;
  • Much of our outreach is with tent cities that do house a high percentage of our service veterans.

With those of natural disasters and manmade disasters we:

  • Prior to a foreseen event such as a Code Blue Snow/Cold event, incoming tropical storm, hurricane, extreme tornado producing thunderstorms and tornado alerts, tsunami alerts, and the like, we post everything to all our social media venues in real time (all social media venues are listed below);
  • work reverently with all the realtors and private landlords asking for them to agree to accept payment from disaster response teams for a period to get their housing back in order.
  • Homeless To Independence Inc. does send items to disaster harmed area on a needed basis and are not limited to baby diapers, baby wipes, baby formula, cleaning up supplies, seniors need items such as diabetic socks and more.

PLEASE NOTE:  HOMELESS TO INDEPENDENCE, INC. DOES HAVE AN “EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS AND DISASTER RESPONSE” PAGE ON OUR WEBSITE FOR EACH STATE/COMMONWEALTH & TERRITORY.

“Seeds of Hope Gardening Project”:

Officially named in 2020, we have been planting fruits and vegetables from seeds and pits for nearly 20 years and passing the plants onto families and individuals in need to help them not only eat healthier but also save money.  These plants are raised in 3-gal and 5-gal food grade buckets, and the buckets are turned in at the end of the season and reused the next season.  The seeds and pits we use are harvested from the produce we raise and produce we purchase off season.  Everything we use is non-GMO.

Our next season starts on Wednesday, April 1st, 2026.  This year we will be expanding and harvested produce will also be passed onto local food panties such as Quakertown Food Pantry and local Angel’s Table that feeds those in need.

We also would like to reach out to the residents and farmers  – please feel free to pass on your overabundance of produce you harvest – we will also pickup your produce to pass on in – as long as it is not spoiled – and we will also mention you when we are getting the word out about all the good that is going on.

We are always looking for volunteers, donations of seeds, soil, food grade 3 & 5 gallon buckets and/or financial donations.

***

Homeless To Independence Inc. is dedicated to helping families and individuals with items of need such as clothing and household goods within the State of New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania, Southern New York, Maryland, and Delaware.  There is currently a closed waiting list because the need is so severe.  We do not pass on broken, ripped, smelly, dirty, or buggy items – in fact we do NOT take items in those conditions.

On October 1st, 2025, our 20th Annual Multi-State Winter Outerwear Drive started, and we have served well over 30K people in 5-States with winter outerwear items this season. Due to the longer cold weather season this year, we continued and ended March 31st 2026.  We collaborate with various entities, such as tent cities, homeless organizations, meal services, elementary school social workers, domestic violence shelters, etc. in passing these items out.

Continued the next page…

Our 2026 season will start on Thursday, October 1st, 2026 and will run through the end of February 2027 unless the very cold weather continues them we will run through March 2027.

The door is always open. The house is safe. Coffee can be on in minutes, and the kitchen bench is a place of peace and non-judgment. Anyone who needs to chat is welcome anytime. Never suffer in silence. I have food in the fridge, coffee and tea in the cupboard, listening ears, a shoulder to cry on and prayer to share. I will always be available and you are always welcome!

This is an old value that has been lost to technology. A text, face-time, or emoji is not the equivalent of making time for those we love or care about!

P.S My home is not a prize home but my cups are clean & the love you get is genuine.

Could at least one friend please copy and re-post (not share) I’m trying to demonstrate that someone is always listening, you are never really alone!
