Homeless To Independence Inc. is an All-Volunteer, Faith-Based, 501©3 non-profit organization. We do NOT receive any grant funding what-so-ever to pay bills for anyone in any situation. We do not give away money. We do not give out loans against any items for money.

This ministry is supported with generous financial donations that are used to help keep us functioning. Our purpose is to help supply individuals and families with personal needs such as food, toiletries, clothing, household items, furniture and baby/adult diapers/wipes both locally and to areas effected by disasters . At this time, we do not offer any shelter or transitional housing services. Again, we DO NOT pay any bills. We DO NOT pay any rents or mortgages.

If you are actually homeless, or about to be homeless or need emergency assistance of any kind, you can:

1. DIAL “211” from a:

a. Land line telephone. Tell the receiver your situation and what you need. They will give you information specific for the physical location you are currently at plus any referrals you may need. They have the most up to the minute information for your specific area. Dialing “211” will get you help and much more info than this office can provide. Homeless to Independence wants you to have all the information you need to get through the situation you are in.

b. Cell Telephone – This will ONLY bring you to the correct information center in the area code within the very same City/Town in the County & State you purchased/acquired your cell telephone in!

PLEASE NOTE: If you do not have a land-line telephone or cell telephone, go to your local police department, library, or house of worship and ask to use their land-line telephone. They may even make the call on your behalf.

2. Use the internet and go to:

Homeless To Independence Inc. is not responsible for misprints or cancellations of events by the event holders, landlord and/or their agent, or ourselves. Homeless to Independence Inc. also reserves the right to “NOT” offer services to people and/or persons that are rude, unpleasant, and untruthful in any way shape or form, belligerent and the like.

OFFICE NUMBER IS: 1-732-264-7500

Please note that our office does have very limited volunteer staff and if we are one telephone line we cannot answer the other line. There is simply not enough time in the day to answer and/or return each and every telephone call.

Welcome to the Green Book Online! – 311

Dear Friends:

For nearly a century, the Green Book has kept New Yorkers informed about the agencies, offices, boards, and commissions that keep our dynamic City running. This year, to complement the traditional printed edition, we are proud to publish the first truly “green” Green Book-a searchable, up-to-date City directory in digital form.

Enhancing our government’s online presence and providing real-time information to New Yorkers is a central goal of our Road Map for the Digital City, a report we released last year. Innovative customer-service initiatives, such as 311 Online, have already made more government information more accessible, allowing New Yorkers to get City news faster and easier than ever before. The digital Green Book is another tool New Yorkers can use to more easily interact with government, and more easily find the information and resources they need.

In our ever-more interconnected world, information technology has become essential to civic engagement. It has transformed how New Yorkers share ideas with one another, with elected officials, and with people across the globe. We are determined to provide the most responsive, most sustainable, and most forward-thinking government possible. This directory is the latest example of our commitment to that goal, and I invite you to use the new Green Book-in its digital form, which is available at

In order to be considered by a prospective employer, first impressions ARE the most important! Get a haircut, fresh clothes, and shower – Make your BEST effort to make your BEST impression!!! There are agencies to help you with clothes. Even if you are homeless at this point in time, you can get a fresh shower at a shelter in your area. There ARE other housing options in the county and you can do it!

Please follow these suggestions:

• First have your resume prepared. There are libraries that will do them free of charge. Provide honest information.
• Next I would like to discuss the application. I strongly suggest for you to pick up a paper application, fill it out totally! This will be your “Cheat Sheet” and will show your prospective employer that you are organized and ready. Pulling 50-million sheets of paper out of your pocket while filling out an application looks BAD! DO NOT ABBREVIATE! Do NOT even abbreviate “New Jersey”. Do NOT leave any space blank; if the requested
information does not apply to you simply put “N/A” in that block. Apply as a responsible, dependable and employable person.
• Have all of your identification ready.
• Choose your references carefully also. Now that you have made positive changes, I strongly suggest that you offer people that know and have witnessed your new lifestyle.
• Do not be afraid to offer certificates of accomplishment such as computer classes, parenting classes, first aid classes, etc.
• Have your interview clothes ready the night before and take a fresh shower in the morning. (I am, at this time, working on barbers and salons that will donate haircuts. More information to come as I make those arrangements).
• Always keep in prayer. No matter what, life can only get better as long as you choose to make the positive changes to change your own life.
