DISCLAIMER

Homeless To Independence Inc. is an All-Volunteer, Faith-Based, 501©3 non-profit organization. We do NOT receive any grant funding what-so-ever to pay bills for anyone in any situation. We do not give away money. We do not give out loans against any items for money.

This ministry is supported with generous financial donations that are used to help keep us functioning. Our purpose is to help supply individuals and families with personal needs such as food, toiletries, clothing, household items, furniture and baby/adult diapers/wipes both locally and to areas effected by disasters . At this time, we do not offer any shelter or transitional housing services. Again, we DO NOT pay any bills. We DO NOT pay any rents or mortgages.

If you are actually homeless, or about to be homeless or need emergency assistance of any kind, you can:

1. DIAL “211” from a:

a. Land line telephone. Tell the receiver your situation and what you need. They will give you information specific for the physical location you are currently at plus any referrals you may need. They have the most up to the minute information for your specific area. Dialing “211” will get you help and much more info than this office can provide. Homeless to Independence wants you to have all the information you need to get through the situation you are in.

b. Cell Telephone – This will ONLY bring you to the correct information center in the area code within the very same City/Town in the County & State you purchased/acquired your cell telephone in!

PLEASE NOTE: If you do not have a land-line telephone or cell telephone, go to your local police department, library, or house of worship and ask to use their land-line telephone. They may even make the call on your behalf.

2. Use the internet and go to: http://www.211.org/

OCCASIONALLY, THERE WILL BE ARTICLES BY OTHER WRITERS. HOMELESS TO INDEPENDENCE MAY NOT NECESSARILY AGREE WITH THEIR VIEWPOINTS, BUT WE DO RESPECT THEM. THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION!

OFFICE CONTACT INFO:

OFFICE NUMBER IS: 1-732-264-7500

Please note that our office does have very limited volunteer staff and if we are one telephone line we cannot answer the other line. There is simply not enough time in the day to answer and/or return each and every telephone call.

THANK YOU!!!

NEBRASKA SECTION 8 HOUSING WAITING LIST OPENING SOON!!

Bellevue Housing Authority
8214 Armstrong Circle
Bellevue, Sarpy County, NE
402-734-5448 http://www.sarpyhousing.org/

Please note: The Bellevue Housing Authority covers Sarpy County, NE.
The Bellevue Housing Authority (BHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is opening soon for one day only, on June 2, 2016 at 9:00 am CT. This waiting list was last open in November 2014.

Please note:

The BHA will close the waiting list once 100 appointments have been scheduled. A BHA representative informed us it is likely the waiting list will close one hour after it opens. The line will be disconnected when the waiting list is closed.
This waiting list has preferences. This means that applicants who qualify for these preferences will receive assistance before applicants who do not. Because of these preferences, applicants who do not qualify may have a longer wait to receive assistance.

To apply during the opening period, call the BHA at (402) 835-4724 to schedule an appointment. Persons who call may get a busy signal. If this happens, hang up and call again until you reach a representative.

Disabled applicants who require reasonable accommodation to apply can call the BHA at (402) 734-5448 to request a reasonable accommodation form. The form must be completed and returned to the BHA office by May 25, 2016. The form must be completed by a doctor or licensed professional.

The following documentation is required: Name, phone number and Social Security Number of the applicant.

Applicants will be placed on the waiting list by date and time the completed application is returned, including the required documents.

This waiting list has the following preferences: Resident of Sarpy County (proof of bill or lease required), disabled (proof of official documentation required), elderly (proof of photo ID required), homeless (proof of shelter letter required; or if living in car an officer will regularly check), participant of Rent Wise class, working 32 hours per week or more.

Important note: Applicants who have been placed on the waiting list must inform the housing authority immediately if your application information changes (such as contact information, income, and household members). In the case that the office sends a notice that does not get returned, or if application information is out of date, your name may be terminated from the waiting list. Contact the housing authority to find out how to update application information.

For more information, visit the Housing Foundation for Sarpy County website, or call the BHA office at (402) 734-5448.

Program Description
This program can help individuals buy a single family home. While HUD does not lend money directly to buyers
to purchase a home, FHA-approved lenders make loans through a number of FHA-insurance programs.
General Program Requirements
In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a member of a housing cooperative or interested in
purchasing a unit in a cooperative housing project.

Loan Terms
Please contact an FHA-approved lender for loan term information. To find an approved lender, please visit:

As I search for rentals throughout our state, I look for certain criteria:

1. I have decided to not list so many houses for rent, as apartments, in most cases do include heat. Please keep in mind that winter is at our door-step and the cost of heating is on the rise. The monthly rental may seem a bit higher priced, however, it will be worth it in the long-run.

2. I will not list housing that requires a fee for their service, nor a fee per call. I do agree with a fee, however for the back-ground and/or credit check, THE FEE IS APPROPRIATE, since those companies providing the background check and credit check do charge a fee for their services.

3. I will do my best to keep the maximum rental amount within the cost of living to your area, however, if Section 8 or TRA is accepted the rental amount may be more because there are times when the utilities are included.

4. I will not list without the rental amount included

5. I try not to list rental opportunities that offer “Option to Buy” – I have found that in most of these situations it does not work out properly for either party involved. I am working on a “First Time Home Purchaser” list of programs from throughout the State, that operates in an official capacity to help those that are working so diligently to raise their families and deserve to show something for their hard, hard work.
